What a beautiful week! We took full advantage of the warm weather, and shifted our routine to include a lot more time in Wildwood Forest. Now we're heading outside around 9:00am, and doing our circle time and snack time in the woods. What a treat!
When we come back from break we're going to start our spring songwriting unit, and this week we started to lay the groundwork. Mike (my husband, also an incredible musician) joined us for a circle time to model the simplicity of writing a song, and as a group we came up with "Taiwanese Treat", a silly song about the candy that I brought back from Taiwan earlier this winter. Take a listen HERE.
Our last months together will be a continued focus on social skills, exploration, connecting with each other and the natural world, and having FUN!
Check out some of the fun we had together this week :)
Woodworking, and decorating our creations
So much to find under the soil. We've loved collecting samples to look at under our microscope.
We found a mystery. in the woods on Monday - who made all those wood chips? Some kids said "a beaver! A beaver eats wood!" while another said "There's no pond here. It wasn't a beaver..."
This mystery scat was with the wood chips. Any guesses?
Our April self-portraits are hanging in the hallway :)
We love having circle time outside.
A rotton stump has become a great spot for close examination. This crew is dissecting and inspecting.
We built a loom this week! This kiddo is helping saw off the long ends.
These two are transporting some willow boughs for the loom...
...and time to weave!
We've loved having Ana with us this week. She taught us a fun rhyme and math game on Thursday.
Dress like a teacher day!
So many flowers to collect.
The paint in the shed has finally thawed! Easel is open.
On Friday we tried orange and yellow fruits and veggies. Ask your child about the four treats Farmer Amy brought us for our Eat The Rainbow adventure.
It's a beautiful time of year to hike on the nature trail - no poison ivy, spring ephemerals abound. We had a couple of great hikes this week!
Aaaannndddd....check out the cool pictures we've been taking with our microscope.
Can you tell what they are????
