Happy Halloween

We had a cold wet week, signaling the cold to come. Halloween weekend is here! Here are some fun events happening this weekend:

  • Trunk or Treat at the Guilford Fairgrounds on Saturday at 2:00.
  • Guilford Central Trick or Treating, Sunday at 5:30 (trick or treating around the library, then parade to the playscape for stories and songs with Laura Lawson Tucker - a real treat!)
And next week make sure you check out the Diversity and Social Justice Lending Library! We'll be out front at dismissal every Wednesday in November with wonderful books to lend. Fliers are in your child's backpack today.

Finally, here's a tip for helping your child develop independence: The Jacket Flip!

It can be really tricky for young kids to get their jackets on, particularly if they are trying to put one arm in at a time. A great trick that all of your kids are getting good here at school at is the jacket flip. Here’s how it goes: Lay the jacket open on the ground in front of you. Stand at the HEAD of the jacket, and slide both hands into the sleeves. Flip the jacket over your head. Have your child show you how it’s done, and give them time to get their OWN jackets on at home!

There's a nice big puddle in the field, great for splashing.

The hay bale was used to make our scarecrow, but it was also really fun to jump off!

We made apple crisp for a nice Halloween treat on Friday.

Kristine read a big book to the class on Thursday.

The magic pot worked! It turned our white masks into fun animal masks! We made some ears to go with them today...

We had our first fire volunteer today! Thank you Jaclyn!!

Here's the group with our crazy scarecrow! You can check it out down at the Playscape this weekend.

Delicious apple crisp, cooked over the fire.
