Welcome to the pre-k blog! I'll update the blog *most* weeks and send you the link on Remind. Feel free to "follow" the blog as well if you're interested.
There is so much that happens in these first weeks of pre-k! We try to move very slowly, making sure that kids understand the routines and rules as we introduce different materials, the ways that we transition between spaces, and ways to be kind and safe with each other. As you can imagine, there's a lot to do! Don't be alarmed if your child is particularly tired.
Your children all know our class rules! They are: we use kind words, we take care of our classroom, and we use gentle touches. As always, we try to tell children what we want them to do, rather than what we don't want them to do.
A couple of reminders:
*If you want us to apply sunscreen or bug spray you have to provide your own from home. hand it to us directly, or let us know that it's in your child's backpack - it's hard for us to check backpacks every day!
*September 27th is picture day! More details to come, but put it on your calendar.
Enjoy some pictures of this fun crew as they navigate the first two weeks of school!
One of the first thing we learn about is using tools like shovels and rakes. These two are working together to make a "gigantic" pile!
An expedition to the garden allowed us to sample some yummy treats.

These kids are practicing with crayons, and learning how to take care of them by decorating cubby name tags.
Our monarch caterpillars have been so much fun to observe.
Look where our caterpillars made their chrysalises! They escaped from their tank, and we had to search for a while before we found them!
Watercolor painting was a popular activity on our rainy Tuesday.
A rainy day means water for the mud kitchen.
Taking a close look at the chrysalises
Our block zone is a popular place to play!
There's a magical bean house on the playground - a popular place during our afternoon playground time!
Our wheelbarrow has opened up a world of possibilities for our tool use.
Painting with a buddy is a great way to start forming some friendships.
These two are happy reading together in the "Cozy Shed".
Today Kristine helped kids practice using our hammock, a good place for calming down or having a little alone time.
We finally "opened" the lean-to today! These two happily explored, enjoying a new perspective.
Have a wonderful weekend!
