The light in Wildwood Forest was so beautiful this week, with the fallen leaves letting in a little more sunlight. We've been getting into the routine of afternoon specials. With PE on Monday (our first class was cancelled, but we'll start next week!), art on Wednesday, and library on Thursday, kids are enjoying some fun afternoon activities. Music is on the docket as well, time still TBD.
Note: If you forget to send library books back by Thursday, our librarian Mrs. King will set aside the book your child wants to check out to put on hold until your book returns.
Next week there are two fun events happening at school.
*On Wednesday morning we'll have our first annual all school (hopefully!) Farm Field Day. Pre-k will participate in farm-based activities from 9:00-10:00 in the morning. If you'd like to volunteer to help out with a farm station please email Sarah Rosow at srosow@wsesdvt.org.
*Our field trip to Cortland Hill Orchard is on Friday the 10th. We'll leave school around 9:15 and return around 10:45/11:00.
Don't forget that there's no school on Monday 10/13 or Tuesday 10/14.
Enjoy some pictures from the week!
This determined kiddo loves this letter puzzle.
Homemade headbands on, friends at the ready!
This week we focused on leaf collecting and leaf sorting. Here we are, sorting by color. We also sorted by shape, and are working on thinking of other categories we could sort our leaves into.
We found a tiny three-legged frog!
These scientists are doing some close observation and drawings of the frog.

We have a grapevine hanging in the Rain House - time to swing.
With acorns aplenty these kiddos are using a rock to smash them open.
Chippy quickly discovered the remnants of the smashed acorns and filled up their cheeks!
We loved watching Chippy come up out of his burrow to grab the acorns that the children have been leaving for him. Such a great opportunity to practice those tricky executive functioning skills of moving calmly and quietly so we didn't scare him away.
A beautiful Friday hike on the nature trail. Ask your child about the new game called "Flood!"
It doesn't look like much in this picture, but this hill is actually quite steep - steep enough for a climbing rope! This crew scaled the cliffs of our very own "Mt. Everest" today, all while cheering each other on.
Check out the kids at the top - reaching out to help pull their friends up. So much wonderful kindness in this group!
Aaaand, we had our first tree-climbing experience today. The orange flagging tells us that this is a tree that's okay for climbing, and lets us know how high we can go. Feet stay below the orange tape.
Have a great weekend!
