Smokey Cinnamon Buns

I know we've told you about one of our favorite times of the week, our Friday sharing time. In the afternoon children get a chance to share the things they created during rest time. Cars, trucks, spaceships, and other interesting vehicles take center stage, and after sharing Melissa encourages the sharer to say: "Questions or comments?" The rest of the children raise their hands and ask questions to their classmate.

It is very tricky getting pre-k kiddos to understand how to ask a question, but this class excels at it, and their questions are incredible. Here's a list of questions from a recent sharing.

  • When it rains can it go faster than the speed of light?
  • Does it shoot out fireballs?
  • Does it shoot out plastic?
  • Can it shoot out fireballs?
  • Can it shoot out ice balls?
  • Can it jump, when its raining, into a black hole?
  • Can it do back flips?
  • Can it go around in circles?
  • Sometimes does it fall from a tree?
  • Can it shoot out fireballs?
  • Can it shoot out ice balls?
  • Can it go faster than the speed of lightning?
  • Can it jump up and down into a black hole?

 So good, right?!

Enjoy some pictures from the rest of our week...

A parrot party at the art table...

Monday rain, and so much ice on the ground!

But the ice is slowly melting and revealing treasures that have been buried for months.

An icy feast

Some time playing out of the rain was also welcome!

We didn't go into the woods on Tuesday - too windy! But we did find some icy puddles in the field that were sooooooo fun to play in.

Load 'er up!

A fun art project, we'll show you at conferences.

We've opened a cafe in our dramatic play center. Mrs. Baker was one of our first visitors!

Cool icicles on the nature trail

The ice is pretty much gone! We're back to digging in the dirt :)

These two are patiently waiting for birds to land on their heads. No luck today, but we'll try again!

On Thursday afternoon we mixed up some "no-knead bread" dough, and left it overnight to rise.

On Friday we rolled it out, spread some cinnamon and sugar on it, and turned it into...

cinnamon rolls! They were the best version we've ever done. Yum, yummy, yum!
