Singing into Spring

Oh spring! It's the best time of year in pre-k, and we're leaning right into the fun.

This week we started an exciting songwriting project. We love music, singing, and dancing in pre-k, and we'll culminate our musical experiences together with a focus on creating our OWN songs. This week we wrote a couple of songs together, focusing on letting the lyrics flow. You can listen here:

Bobby the Worm

Butterflies

After laying the foundation, the kids now each have their own songwriting book where they can write/dictate their own songs. We'll work for the next week or so to come up with lyrics, and then we'll have some REAL professional musicians come visit and work with the kids to turn their lyrics into songs. We can't wait to see what emerges from these creative little brains!

There is SO much more that happened this week - see the pictures below to find out more...

We moved some new stumps into our meeting circle on Monday morning.

They were heavy, and took a lot of determination to move!

A new construction project in the willow tunnel

It still feels strange to play in the field without snow!

A beautiful hike on the nature trail.

And we found a magical tree!

If you climb through its branches you turn into whatever animal you want. There were a lot of unicorns running through the woods this week!

Our microscope remains a wonderful focal point of our classroom play time. Check out our new bulletin board in the hallway to see some of our up-close pictures.

We added leaves to our forest mural! Things are greening up, just like outside :)

The size of that worm!

Securing a sign for Chippy's Hole

A little rain means that the "Goo Factory" is open again.

We collected some forsythia to help finish up our willow weaving.

Saturday, May 2 is Green Up Day! We helped pick up trash along School Road.

Greening up is a GREAT activity to do as a family. Find more info HERE

Mr. Damon read us such a silly story today. Ask your child to describe The Runaway Dinner

Have a fantastic weekend!
