Here We Go...

Here we go, off on another great school year adventure. This group of kiddos is proving to be kind, silly, curious, and oh so thoughtful. The beginning of the year brings SO much new learning as we very slowwwwwly introduce materials, rules and routines. So far we've focused a lot on our three class rules:

*We use kind words
*We use gentle touches
*We take care of our classroom

Stating these rules in the "positive" (rather than "no hitting", etc) makes it clear exactly what we want children to do, helping to create pro-social behavior. We try hard to bring this positive language to all of our interactions with the kids. Enjoy some pictures from the past two weeks...

There are so many interesting things to discover in the forest.

These kiddos are learning how to use and take care of crayons.

Our forest friend "Chippy the chipmunk"  has a couple of holes in the forest. These kiddos made him a forest feast.

Decorating nametags in the classroom

Farmer Sarah tooks us on a garden scavenger hunt last Friday.

A rainy day means getting into rain gear. We did it!

We introduced the dress up bin, a new popular item.

Our "Inquiry Basket" encourages these young scientists to look closely at the world around them.

Afternoon train time - so fun!

We harvested wildflowers for some bouquets with Farmer Sarah.

The bouquets are headed to the Guilford Fair! You can find them in Fitch Hall at the fair this weekend (Sunday/Monday).
