Kindness in the Air

This week we did some more work with our Kindness Curriculum. This awesome curriculum uses children's literature and mindfulness activities to teach kids about emotional recognition, interpersonal problem solving, and ways to be a kind friend. We'll work our way through the curriculum over the coming weeks. The first lessons focus on paying attention, or "mindfulness". We pay attention on the outsides of our bodies using our senses, and we also pay attention on the inside of our bodies, noticing our feelings and emotions. Good stuff, and a great foundation for the more interpersonal work to come.

Our district family conferences are still a ways away, but we're going to offer a few meeting times a little bit earlier for pre-k families. You can follow this link to sign up for a slot.

Don't forget that picture day is Tuesday--

We have just a few pictures from the week - enjoy!

These kiddos love to sing and dance. Ask them about our alligator song, speckled frogs, or little ducks.

Leaf lab is open! Scissors and hole punches are a great tool for exploring.

These kids are using "belly buddies" - a heavy object on their stomachs - to help them focus on their breath and have a quiet moment.

Painting with nature - leaves, pinecones, and pine needles make great paint brushes!

We had a special visitor on Monday teach us about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, the Jewish High Holidays. Happy new year everyone!
