This Tropical Weather

It’s been downright tropical this week, and I must admit we’ve been enjoying the relative  warmth. The sledding has been fantastic, and there have been some fun building projects out in the woods, including a bear den and a hot tub.

We’re continuing our exploration of animals in winter, using the many different versions of the classic folk tale The Mitten to get us started. If you have any stuffed animals that you’d like to send in for re-enactment in our dramatic play area, we would happily borrow any stuffed mice, squirrels, foxes, owls, pigs or wolves for a couple of weeks.

We’ve also had a great time starting our mindfulness and kindness curriculum. This week we’ve planted flower bulbs, and started a kindness garden mural where we’ll plant “seeds of kindness”.

Finally, let me know if you’d like to come to our first family workshop on child health and safety. We’ll have a local pediatrician and a member of the fire department to do a little presentation and answer any questions you have. Dinner and childcare is included! RSVP to me so we know how much food to get.
