Spring Has Sprung

Welcome back! These kiddos have jumped right back into playing and learning. Our new focus on tools is proving to be a big hit. We’ve been pounding nails, drilling holes with a hand drill, and using screw drivers. Next up: saws. We’ve learned about different  construction-related jobs, like architects and engineers. We’ve been pretending to fix broken sinks in the dramatic play area, and have built large structures in the block area. Thanks so much for your donations! If you are cereal eaters, save your boxes and send them in. Once we have a good collection we’ll do some large-scale building with them.

It’s finally spring, which means it’s time for baby animals! Next week we’re going to start incubating some chicken eggs in the classroom. Stay tuned for a permission slip about handling baby chicks. We’re also on the look out for frog and salamander eggs - if you have a pond in your backyard or an easy source, let me know. We couldn’t call ourselves a real preschool without hatching something…

A reminder: If you would like us to apply bug spray or sunscreen to your child send in the materials along with the permission form.

Outdoor painting means space for LARGE work.

Our new "easel" (swing the shed doors open, and viola!)

And rainy day painting on an old shower curtain

Hammering in the classroom is also fun - this new toy lets us use teeny tiny nails to hammer pattern blocks into cork.

Such concentration!

We LOVE our new work belts!

Painting in the rain might be even more fun than painting in the sun.

We quickly moved from shower curtain to trees - gotta make the woods look good!

There's a lot of hard work behind all those paint specks
