We welcome spring with open arms!
This week has been an exciting one both inside and outside. Inside we have created a car shop, complete with a cardboard car and truck. Kids have been busy adding different elements to the shop, including tires you can change, windshields, headlights, and a special spot where you write down diagnostic problems on a whiteboard. We’ve also been sawing and connecting cardboard pieces with a special cardboard toolkit, and reading lots of car and truck themed books.
In addition to our exciting focus on transportation, we’ve been learning a bit about making maple syrup. Check out the blog for pictures from today’s field trip to the Franklin Farm!
Outside in the woods the snow is melting, and we’ve been discovering lots of evidence of animals, including tracks and scat. We’ve gone on a few fun expeditions, and have had particular fun using a long rope to help us climb up a steep steep hill.
I’m looking forward to connecting with families at conferences this week and next. Be in touch if you haven’t yet scheduled one!
Climbing the hill with our red rope is tricky business!
The stream on the playground has been a wonderful place to float wood chips.
Our new truck!
Last Friday's mud was pretty extreme in the rain house.
Our fire last week
We got a new cardboard saw and some cool cardboard screws. Let the creativity begin!
Kids made sure this deer track was very visible by spraying colored water all around it.
Visiting the "bear den"
Hard to tell in the pictures, but this hill is really steep!
Our buddies read us books about sugaring to get us ready for our field trip to the Franklin Farm.
We loved seeing all the different parts of the farm.
An unexpected stream crossing!
The sugar house was a favorite spot.
We mostly loved the maple syrup most of all!
Hiking out to the sugar shack - note the steam coming out from the red roof.
