As Thanksgiving approaches we teachers are ever grateful for the time we get to spend with your kids. This week we've been tackling some math challenges (sorting, measuring, examining shapes) and some literacy challenges (rhyming, alliteration, noticing sounds in words), and of course having a lot of fun with imaginary play.
As the weather gets colder we're getting more and more creative about keeping hands warm while we eat. Each child now has their own pair of "eating gloves." If you have any thin knit gloves lying around your house that you want to send in for your child please do - it'll help with our laundry load! We've also enjoyed breakfast and snack around the fire.
Because children are arriving at school already dressed for outside play, we aren't getting the same amount of practice with the self care skills as zipping jackets, and putting on snow pants and boots that we typically do when we start our days inside. So much of this practice is falling to YOU families! It can be hard at first, but think about letting your child do the following for themselves:
- put on snow pants
- put on boots
- pull the cuffs of snow pants over their boots
- zip up jacket (takes a lot of practice - ask your child about the rabbit and the carrot!)
- Put on hat and mittens

This pile has been many different things - it started as a fire, and ended as a monster!
