It's hard to believe that spring break is just a few days away!
This week we started some more formal "graphics practice," starting to work on building muscle memory for letter formation. A large part of the kindergarten curriculum is working on identifying and writing letters. However, there are many kiddos in this group who are quite interested in writing, and as k and 1st grade teachers everywhere will tell you, it's very hard to unlearn bad writing habits! If you're wanting to work with your child on forming letters at home, the most important thing to know is that letters are written from the TOP down. During our graphics practice we use small slate board and chalk and make repeating forms, like line down, line down, line down, starting to build some muscle memory. We do this while listening to music during circle time. Ask your child about it!
Make sure that you're checking your child for ticks every night. I found wood ticks on two children, one embedded in Iris's scalp - glad I searched through her hair!
Enjoy some pictures from our full week...
Bridget and Kristine helped children build an ambulance near our doctors office.
Driving to the hospital!

Our giant dice have been a very popular for some active movement and counting.
More time in the doctor's office.
This lucky kiddo got to use our large chalk board for graphics practice. At the end we always get to "free draw,"

We've been doing a lot of "buddy time" recently. These two worked hard on a painting together.
These buddies played with the geo-board.
We found Hank the pill bug! And did some detailed observations and drawings. (Look closely, Hank is in the small container in front of the basket).
Buddy time, cooking with some rocks.
Trucks! We finally got the trucks out of the playground shed, and they've made for lots of afternoon fun.
