Beautiful Solstice

Happy WINTER everyone! It's finally official. We experimented with a big change to our schedule this week, starting our day inside and heading out to Wildwood Forest around snack time. It was a great success! The children enjoyed some extra time with blocks, trains, dramatic play and more. We're going to stick with this schedule for the January cold and then check in again.

This week, as we head off on our long break, I want to send major appreciations to Kristine and Bridget. They are both incredible, experienced, compassionate teachers who love spending time with your children.

Kristine spearheaded amazing woodworking projects with all of your children. She has amazing ideas for fun projects, and is a master at engaging children in play.

Bridget entertains the class with funny stories about our former classroom rabbits - the kids are always asking for more! She keeps us organized, and has so many fun games up her sleeve.

What a lovely solstice celebration! Wonderful to celebrate the return of the light with all of you.

The sleet and rain tapered and the sun burned through on Wednesday - so beautiful!

We found this frozen worm on Monday. How in the world did it get here??

These two are digging to see if they can find more worms.

A "mama" and "sister" - interest in families is still going strong!

Getting our ice ornaments and ice lanterns set up. This is a project that takes some patience!

teamwork!

Lantern making was a fun inside project earlier this week.

Searching for some tracks...

Watercolors and droppers on snow - beautiful color explorations!

We got to "Eat the Rainbow" with Farmer Sarah again on Tuesday. This week was yellow, with peppers, pineapple, and lemons. Sarah is teaching us a valuable phrase: "I don't like it yet."

Thumbs up for pineapple from this guy!
