It's been a great week in pre-k! We've had fun both inside and outside the classroom. We have another short week next week, with no school for students on Monday. Teachers will be working on writing up progress reports that will go home to you in early February. We love the opportunity to reflect on the time we've spent with your children this year.
This group of kiddos is working hard and becoming increasingly independent when getting ready to go outside, and the order of operations is everything when putting on outdoor clothes. We use visual reminders, and have a song (sung to the tune of Frere Jacques) that goes like this:
First your snow pants, first your snow pants,
Then your boots, then your boots,
Then your jacket, and your hat and mittens,
And that is that, that is that.
Enjoy some details from the week in the pictures below:
These little turkeys are hiding from a group of "trackers".
We love snow! A group of children worked hard to build a snow bank and dig a tunnel.
Crawling is an excellent way to develop the core strength and arm strength crucial for fine-motor skills!
One of our tarp ropes got frozen into the ice so we had to chip it out.
We've been patiently feeding the birds...
...and finally let some children take the place of our scarecrow. I wish we caught a picture of the woodpecker on this kiddos lap!
Look closely at this child's head!
We love to warm up on our walk to the woods by climbing the snowbanks.
A restaurant in our dramatic play space
A curious group of children working hard on a letter puzzle
Farmer Sarah made "rainbow smoothies" with us on Thursday.
We put glitter sand on our light table and have love making designs, letters, and all sorts of drawings.
Hot lava underneath!
The snow helps to create so many little nooks and crannies.
Setting up the "Chocolate Factory"
These two are using watercolor paints right on the snow!
Students have LOVED art class and gym class.
It was cold enough on Friday that we were able to do a favorite winter activity: frozen bubbles! Ask your child about it.
The cold meant that we ate inside, and had to stay very active when we were out. These kiddos are following some deer tracks across the field. Ask your child what we found in the woods on the other side!
Have a wonderful weekend!
