Boy did we enjoy this warmer weather towards the end of this week! There were so many moments this week when we teachers were able to stop, look around, and observe ALL the children engaged in some sort of independent play. Here's a snapshot that I was able to scribble in my notebook from Wednesday:
*Lucas and Anson are playing an imaginary game with a piece of twine, pretending they are a shark family.
*Charlotte is reading books in the cozy shed.
*Finn is climbing the stump.
*Ida, Mia, and Maeve are writing letters in the rain house.
*Cyrus, Rhett and Jackson are moving pieces of wood around, making a home.
*Asa A. is hammering ice.
*Leia is swinging and singing in the hammock
How beautiful! Enjoy some pictures from the week as well...
This crew worked hard to write letters to their families. They used our letter chart to help them figure out some of the sounds in the words they were trying to write as they put addresses on their envelopes.
Next step: to the mailbox! (We heard that some of these letters made were delivered to families the SAME day - way to go Guilford Postal Service!)
These two are investigating some very interesting mushrooms they found. One child said "every time I push on it dust comes out!" Any guesses about what they found??
Getting a see saw set up - what teamwork!
The climbing stump is a popular spot!
A short physics lesson: trying to push a child in a small box across the floor is tricky work! They quickly discovered that it was easier to do on the carpet than on the tiled floor.
We had a pancake party on Wednesday, and celebrated the delicious maple syrup that we made as a school. Thanks Farmer Sarah!
Musical instruments were a fun addition to our play time with kindergarten.
This group is wondering if there are any potatoes left in the garden bed.
