Snowy Days

Hello all! It's been a week full of sickness. Thank you for keeping your children home when they aren't feeling well - there's so much going around right now! I was out sick for most of the week, and subsequently didn't finish progress reports. I'll finish them up soon and they'll go out in the mail sometime next week. A couple of other updates/requests:

  • We could use some more classroom snack donations! Goldfish are popular with this group.
  • Speaking of snacks, the Fresh Fruit and Veggie program is back! We're offering fresh fruit/veggies to kids every day at snack. This is mostly an opportunity for them to try something new, a concept
  •  that we're working hard on with this group.
  • We seem to have a mitten and sock vortex in our classroom. Double check to make sure all of your child's gear is labeled so we can help make sure lost items get back to them.
  • Valentine's Day is coming up. We'll celebrate with card making and kindness themed activities, and are also looking for a fire tender to help us cook a special sweet treat over the fire at about 10:30 on the 14th. Kiddos are welcome to bring in valentines for everyone in the class (14 kids) - I'll send home a class list next week. Please no candy!
  • Finally, check out the new bulletin board outside of pre-k to see some silly adventures of "Ice Kid," one of of our recent ice experiments.

Scott and Kristine and Kim wonderfully held down the fort this week - we're so lucky! Only a few pictures from the fun snow play. Have a restful weekend, and stay healthy everyone!

Snow! Check out the fun snow fort...

Understanding states of matter is one of our early childhood science standards. What better way to explore that than through freezing and melting? Here kids explore the question "What will happen to your snow person if you leave it inside?"

Snow buddies!
