Spring Has Sprung

Wow - spring is here! We started the week with mittens and snow pants, and ended with tank tops and shorts. It has been wonderful to extend our morning outside time - boy are we ready for it! We'll continue to start our day inside for breakfast and a quick play time, but will head outside well before snack and enjoy a long morning outside.

Here's some information for an online parent training in "Zones of Regulation", a social emotional curriculum that we've used a bit in pre-k this year. If you hear your children talking about green, yellow, or red feelings, that is from Zones. It has really helped a lot of students with emotional regulation, and perhaps you're interested in introducing it at your home...

Enjoy our pictures from the week, and have a wonderful vacation! We're looking diving into some play and learning around the themes of gardens, spring amphibians, and music when we get back.

Hot days outside means time to open the water table.

April self portraits in process

This week we made nature journals and spent some time using them at sit spots.

A quiet and very engaged conversation.

Riding her horse (with a little "chicken" laying some eggs in his nest in the background).

We love art time with Mx. Nina!

Quiet reflection at sit spots

We made some beautiful wands earlier in the week.

Can you believe we wore snow pants on Monday and Tuesday?!

We found a vernal pool! Down the road by the town garage is a small wetlands with a very noisy group of animals.

Kristine took kids on expeditions to do some careful observation.

Our dramatic play shelving has turned into bunk beds and owl homes :)

We found 3 nests in the field pavilion! No eggs though...

On Thursday we enjoyed another workshop with Lisa from the Brattleboro Food Coop, grinding sprouted buckwheat for crepes. Yum!

And on Friday we had a musical performance and sing along from Theo's grandma and her friends.
So fun!
