Peace in a Jar

A short note this *short* week about the Peace Jars that hopefully made it home to you in one piece today! Our Kindness Curriculum continues to help ground our class, and provide lots of strategies for emotion regulation and social problem solving. Peace jars can be used when your child is experiencing BIG emotions, like anger, frustration, or sadness. Have them show you how to shake the jar (we practiced many times shaking gently so we don't drop it!) and then take some deep breaths as you watch the glitter settle. We have a peace jar in our calm down spots (cozy cubes) at school, and there's something quite soothing about them. Use as you find fit at home.

Here are a couple of pictures to ask your kiddo about~~~~

These two are practicing using "Peace Wands" to solve a problem - ask your child how they work...

Our pumpkin factory is open!

Pumpkins are the perfect medium to introduce hammers and nails.

The Goldilocks zone of hammering: not too hard, not too soft.

And so satisfying!

A beautiful strategy for counting :)

Thanks for the new magnifiers, Jeff!

A sunny picnic snack on Thursday helped warm us up. Thanks for sending your children to school so prepared this week! We weathered the cold start quite well.

Have a great weekend!
