Welcome, Rain!

We're settling into our "winter" schedule, exploring all the benefits of a bit more time inside. It always feels so nice to flow with the seasonal rhythms of pre-k. AND, we were thrilled to welcome a little rain this week!

After the Thanksgiving break we have a short 3 weeks until the winter vacation. Wow! Mark your calendars for a pre-k Winter Solstice Celebration on Thursday December 12, at 5:00pm. We'll do a short lantern parade to our woods and enjoy some songs and hot chocolate around a fire (hopefully), before sending you home by about 5:45.

We had a great visit from the Guilford Fire Department today. Ask your child all about it, and talk to them about your plans in the event of a home emergency. The fire department reminded us to do the following:

*Have a family meeting spot outside of your home (a swing set, mailbox, neighbors house)

*Make sure your child knows what to do if the smoke alarms go off at home.

*Help your child start learning your address.

It was so great to see the firefighters in their full uniforms and know that we don't need to be afraid of them in an emergency!

Enjoy some pictures from the week:

Our November self-portraits are hanging up outside the classroom. Check them out!

The block area is getting a lot of use these days.

We needed a new pole for our fort, so had to get out the saw.

Working hard on our new fort...

It's big enough to fit all 10 of us!

Thank you for sharing so many wonderful family photos! The kids are SO happy to tell each other about their families - what a treat!

Ask your child about the new "tracking" game we've been playing in the woods. These kiddos are turkeys, hiding from some friends who are tracking them.

Hurray for rain!

And for hearty art teachers who still come outside for art lessons in the rain :)

Big thanks to the Guilford fire department for a great visit today!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone - we'll see you in December!
